5/7/2006:

This week, as usual, flew by quickly.

Bruce's burn marks are healing quicker than expected; they're now almost invisible.  (Good sign.)

On Friday, we continued our seemingly never-ending quest to find a new place.  We set up two appointments, and figured what the heck, these probably won't be THE ONE either, but there's no harm in trying.  *WELL,* we were wrong.  After 2-3 months of looking at houses and condos (once we decided to give up on apartments), we found THE ONE.  It is a 1,508 sq. ft, 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, attached garage condo, lots of storage space, a very unique gas fireplace, brick deck, built in 1999 (so it's pretty darn new), very low gas prices, lots of grass for future kids to play on, in one of the best school districts in Central Ohio (New Albany Schools), and it is AWESOME....especially the inside.  Man, you walk into the BEAUTIFUL living room, kitchen, master bedroom, or master bath, and you feel rich.  NO doubt.  Within about 15 minutes of seeing the place, we agreed that we could NOT let someone else grab this place, so we filled out the application & faxed it to them Friday evening.

NOW, we are praying hard.  We're supposed to get word back to see if we've been approved w/in 24 hours of Monday morning.  Anyone who reads this on Monday/Tuesday....please send good thoughts our way!

Yesterday, Bruce went canoeing in Tiffin, Ohio (about 2-3 hours North of here) with some friends of his/guys from church (they're called the "Band of Brothers").  Well, they canoed in a pretty good current for 3 hours, had a lot of fun,.....and NOW, I have a sunburnt husband with several bruises and muscle aches from the exercise, being the only one to fall overboard, and slipping on wet rocks.  As a result, Bruce primarily laid down and took today off from doing anything. :)

Beyond that, our kiln has been running pretty much non-stop since Thursday.  On Wednesday night, I taught 11 (young) kids at OSU how to do dichroic Mother's Day presents (which they loved), and so I've now been firing them.  OSU also wants me to make a lot of big multi-colored hearts to sell at the Columbus Arts Festival the first weekend of June, AND I also have a lot of other outstanding orders, too.  Everyone seems to want handmade creations to give as Mother's Day presents.  Also, this week, I got the next-round of acceptance/approval for taking my Counseling Exam....likely to be the week of July 10-14.  As you can tell, on all fronts, the PurpleHandprint business is currently doing good!

Today is a good day:

Despite the fact that we have cats and they "usually don't rent to people with pets," WE GOT APPROVED!!!  THE CONDO IS OURS!!!!  For those interested, here's pictures of parts of the actual place:

Also, today, I scheduled the Counseling Exam....Wednesday, July 12th, from 9am-3pm, in a private room.  NOW....I begin the re-reading all of those counseling books and trying to re-cram it back into my head.....with a lot of quizzing help from Bruce.  :)

5/11/2006:

Let me rephrase my opening sentence two days ago.  This is a good WEEK.

The dichroics are working out well.....VERY well....thank you, mom, for getting that kiln for me wayback when....

Late yesterday morning, I got an email from my supervisor at OSU.  She had received an email from another woman who observed me teaching dichroics to the kids last week.  She was impressed, and so sent my supervisor a posting (to be forwarded to me if I was interested) from HGTV's show "That's Clever!"  HGTV is aparently going to be in Columbus and Cincinnnati from June 17 through July 4, and are looking for little-known/up-and-coming craftspeople who create thier art in thier spare time...(like me! :) ).  They'll tape the artist actually doing the craft in thier home/studio and teaching it to the camera...with a nationwide audience to be aired in Season 3 of the show.  We already had that show on TiVo....now, it's certainly my favorite show.

I immediately got more than a few stars in my eyes...I mean, think of the rewards of being on that show!!!!!  Not to mention enhancing my resume a bit.....

SO, I spent ALL of yesterday filling out the application, which includes detailed questions, photos, and DETAILED, step-by-step instructions for creating three of my pieces.  It was a family-affair last night, as Bruce proofread, and watched me make some pieces last night to ensure that I was following my own directives.  Tonight, he's going to take photos of me making a piece....then, the application will be sent!!!!!

Oh, yes, this is a good week.
5/13/2006:

Yesterday during lunch, we toured the new condo once more, they gave us a key, we took vague measurements, and I sketched a drawing of the inside of the place so that we could plan/organize our furniture.  Later, we went to Home Depot and chose the color that our masterbath will be painted (for us).  We came home and reminded our cat, Abbey, that she was going to LOVE all of the hiding places and tall ledges to jump up onto in this place....if only she can survive the 20 minute car ride.  Bruce has yet to see Abbey's feral instincts and aggression come out....I told him to just wait; he's in for a boat load of fun.....

This week, while Bruce & I were focusing on own upcoming move, important things were happening with our family members:

Bruce's mom has been feeling ill, though they're not sure why, and his dad had a colonoscopy, which turned out fine.
My Grandma Hedrick was in the hospital because her doctor thought that she had a blockage...but she turned out fine.

Beyond those things, I did want to mention something that made me VERY happy last night.  Though we've been together for about 2 years now, Bruce has not had much interest in watching my favorite movie, "The Princess Bride."   Well, he's been thinking about it recently, and with me doing a lot of overnights at work this week, he said that he wanted to spend time with me last night and (finally!) watch it with me.   (This, of course, made me VERY happy...)

Anyway, the movie came out in 1987, and then (when I was in 7th/8th grade, mind you), I decided that someday, MY prince would come, that he would have blond hair/blue eyes, and that I would know that I had found him when he would do anything for me and say "as you wish," which, in the movie, is an even better, more meaningful way of saying, "I love you."

WELL.....Bruce has wonderful blue eyes, he's a blondy (who turned brown once he grew up), he consistently does anything for me, and after the movie was over, he looked at me and said, "as you wish." I couldn't help but allow my heart to jump!  After he kissed me, I told him that I have secretly been waiting almost 20 years to hear someone say that to me (and then explained why).  My prince has come. :)
